FAQ

What is a waste transfer note?+

A waste transfer note is a record of who handed waste to whom, what it was, and when — required under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 whenever waste changes hands, including from a householder to a collection company.

Do I need one as a householder?+

If you're paying someone to take waste away, getting a transfer note (or equivalent record) is good practice and directly supports your duty of care — it's your evidence that you passed the waste to a specific, identifiable carrier.

Is this legally binding, like a contract?+

It's a record of the transfer, not a contract. Its value is as evidence — if your waste is later found fly-tipped, a transfer note showing who you handed it to (and their registration number) supports your duty-of-care defence.

Is anything I enter here stored?+

No. The form submits directly to a PDF generator and the file streams back to your browser — nothing is written to a database, logged, or emailed anywhere. Refresh the page and it's gone.
